Easy Ground Beef Taco Recipe

An easy ground beef taco recipe using your own spices. Cook as is or adjust the spices to suit your family's taste.

  • 2 lbs Ground beef
  • 1 Tbsp Chili Powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 3 tsp Cumin
  • 1 tsp Cayenne Pepper
  • 16 oz Salsa
  • Taco Shells
  • Sour Cream
  • Cheese, shredded
  • Favorite Taco Toppings


  1. Brown ground beef in a skillet. Add chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, cumin and cayenne pepper and mix in while cooking the ground beef.

  2. Once the ground beef is cooked, drain any fat.

  3. Add salsa to the ground beef and cook on low for at least 10 minutes.

  4. Serve on taco shells and add your favorite toppings. Sour cream, cheese, tomatoes, cilantro to name a few.

Recipe Notes

Our family is not a fan of beans but you can add them to this recipe if you enjoy beans.

You can simmer this ground beef taco meat on low for more than the suggested 10 minutes. If you want to cook it beforehand, transfer it to a crockpot and keep it warm on low.

We have also used this taco meat to make nachos. Melt cheese on nacho chips in the oven. Then add taco meat on top and melt a little more cheese on top. Serve with sour cream and salsa and/or guacamole.
